The Vineyards

Howell Mountain - Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake is a hidden gem in the prestigious Howell Mountain area. This family owned vineyard property is steeped in history, its location was used decades ago as a travelling campsite by Native American tribes that would forage the neighboring forests for acorns while travelling through the area. The vineyard sits in its own micro-climate, a sunshine bowl surrounded by dense forests, that sees long, daily exposures giving us dynamic fruit rich in blackberries, currants, and tea spices resulting in powerful tannin structures and balance.

Rutherford - Chaix Vineyard

This historic, 37-acre property, planted in the shadow of the extinct Mount St. John volcano in 1909, occupies a sought-after parcel of the world-famous Rutherford Bench, surrounded by neighbors such as Peju, Phelps, Inglenook, Staglin, Cakebread, and Morisoli Vineyard. The older age of the vines gives us delightful fruit expression, concentrated and explosive with richness and grace. The final wines are characteristic of Rutherford – inky, layered and complex.

Saint Helena - Solares Vineyard

The Solares vineyard in St. Helena, recently purchased by Miguel Solares, is located on the eastern side of the St. Helena appellation. Deep, alluvial soils make this the most vigorous of the three vineyards. The vineyard rows are oriented northeast to southwest providing optimum solar exposure to the clusters with bigger canopies keeping the fruit protected even on the warmest St. Helena days. Typical to the AVA, the fruit sourced from this vineyard is generous and layered with both red and blue fruits, supple tannins and harmonious expressions.
